In this video, I compare microspikes to crampons and tell you which to choose and when you should use them. Some circumstances clearly require crampons where microspikes are not appropriate. Like climbing steep mountains, traveling on glaciers, and such. However, there is a broad area of activity where microspikes may actually work far better than crampons.
