Temecula
Temecula, CA, was established in the early 19th century. It served as a stage
stop on the Butterfield Stage line, going from St. Louis to San Francisco in the middle
of the 19th century. Temecula also was the sight of the bloodiest battle in the Mexican
War, the Temecula Massacre. Things have calmed down quite a bit today, the biggest
thing now in this growing city is the near doubling of its population from 2000 to 2008.
Temecula hosts the Balloon and Wine Festival, year around wine tasting and seasonal wine
growing. This city is considered a bedroom community of San Diego or Los Angeles, as it
is within commuting distance of either metropolis.
